Adela Flores-Bertrand

Elementary School Principal at Riverside Unified School District

Adela Flores-Bertrand has had a diverse range of roles within the education field. Adela began their career in 1996 as an Elementary School Teacher, where they taught K-6th grade students and provided training to parents on literacy and parenting skills. Adela continued as a teacher until 2004 when they transitioned into the role of an English Language Arts and Language Development Coach, Elementary Teacher, focusing on coaching and supporting other teachers in language arts. In 2012, Adela became a K-6 Instructional Services Specialist in Language Arts, where they specialized in curriculum development and provided support to teachers in their language arts instruction. In 2015, they briefly worked for the California Department of Education as an Instructional Materials Content Reviewer Expert. Adela then returned to the school district, joining the Riverside Unified School District in 2017 as an Elementary School Principal. In this role, they oversee the administration and operations of an elementary school. Adela later became the Director of LCAP and Community Engagement, where they led and coordinated the development and implementation of the district's Local Control and Accountability Plan. Adela also has experience from their time at Discovery School as an English Literature and Social Studies Teacher.

Adela Flores-Bertrand is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Educational Leadership and Administration at California Baptist University (2023-2026). Adela has a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential from the University of California, Riverside. Adela also holds a Master of Arts (MA) in Education, with a focus on TESOL, from California State University-San Bernardino. Adela obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Literature and Education from the University of California, Riverside.
