Susana Silvestre

Postdoctoral Researcher at Rothamsted Research

Susana Silvestre has a diverse work experience in scientific research and technology transfer. Susana started their career at the Center for Biodiversity, Functional and Integrative Genomics as a Research Technician from February 2012 to December 2014. Susana then joined the Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) as a Knowledge and Technology Transfer Intern for a three-month period in 2018. During this internship, they gained skills in translating scientific knowledge into value and analyzing patent landscapes. In 2015, they joined Rothamsted Research for their BBSRC Doctoral Training Partnership PhD in Plant Lipid Biotechnology, which they completed in January 2020. Susana'sPhD project focused on understanding the role of plant lipids in the plant's response to cold acclimation. Throughout their PhD, they developed skills in project management, critical thinking, and various areas of molecular biology, plant physiology, and biochemistry. Subsequently, they continued their journey at Rothamsted Research as a Scientific Technician from November 2019 to September 2020. Susana currently holds the position of Postdoctoral Researcher at Rothamsted Research, starting in September 2020.

Susana Silvestre completed their education in a chronological manner. From 2006 to 2009, they attended Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa and obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics. Following this, they pursued their Master of Science (MS) degree in Biotechnology and Cell Biology at the same institution from 2009 to 2011. Finally, from 2015 to 2020, they enrolled at the University of Nottingham, where they completed a DTP PhD program in Agriculture and Food Security.
