S.M. Akhtar has extensive experience in the field of human resources. They started their career in 2006 as a Human Resources Generalist at ORB Protective Services and worked there until 2008. From 2009 to 2012, they served as an HR Manager at UPS. They then moved on to work as a Recruitment Consultant at Roevin Technical People - A Division of Adecco Group from 2013 to 2014. Akhtar joined Amazon in 2014 as an HR Business Partner and worked there until 2017. From 2017 to 2021, they worked as a Senior Human Resources Manager at IPG - Intertape Polymer Group. Currently, Akhtar is the Human Resources Director at Safyre Labs - Jewlr | Lee Fiori | ONE+ONLY since 2021.

S.M. Akhtar holds a Human Resources Business Professional Designation from the Society for Human Resources Management in the USA. They also have a Registered Professional Recruiter Designation from the Association of Professional Recruiters in Canada and a Registered Professional Trainer Designation from the Canadian Professional Trainers. Akhtar has a Post Grad Certificate in Business Management from Ryerson University and a Bachelor of Administrative Studies (BAS) from York University, with a focus on Marketing and Human Resources. Additionally, Akhtar obtained a Human Resource Business Professional (HRBP®) certification from the HR Certification Institute in 2013. They also have certifications as a Registered Professional Recruiter and a Registered Professional Trainer.
