Timothy Caldwell has extensive experience in medicinal chemistry, with a focus on designing and synthesizing novel compounds for various research programs. Currently, they hold the position of Associate Director of Medicinal Chemistry at Sage Therapeutics, where they lead two discovery programs, manages budgets, schedules compounds for testing, and designs new compounds. Prior to this role, they served as the Principal Investigator at Deciphera Pharmaceuticals, leading three research programs and managing a team of chemists. Timothy also worked as a Senior Research Scientist at the Center for World Health and Medicine at Saint Louis University, where they headed the Medicinal Chemistry department and collaborated with Ultragenyx Corp. on the FSHD program. Before that, they held positions at AMRI, Deciphera Pharmaceuticals (as a Senior Scientist), Neurogen Corporation (as a Research Fellow), and the National Institutes of Health (as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow). Throughout their career, Timothy has successfully identified several clinical candidates and contributed to the advancement of various compounds into clinical trials.
Timothy Caldwell completed their education in a chronological order. Timothy first attended Wichita State University from 1986 to 1990, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Afterwards, they pursued a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry from the same institution, from 1991 to 1993. Finally, they attended The University of Kansas from 1994 to 1999, where they obtained a Ph.D. degree in Medicinal Chemistry.
