Jonathan Chapman

Jonathan Chapman has a diverse work experience in the veterinary field. Jonathan started in 2015, working as a Guest Researcher at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, conducting infectious disease surveillance in Puerto Rico. In the same year, they also worked as a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Intern at VCA, gaining experience in various veterinary specialties.

In 2016, Jonathan became a Veterinarian and Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine Resident at the University of Minnesota, where they conducted research projects, assisted in teaching, and participated in multiple activities. Jonathan also worked as a Relief and Independent Contractor Veterinarian for various veterinary hospitals across different states.

In 2018, Jonathan joined the San Diego Humane Society as a Public Health Veterinarian, providing high-standard veterinary care and surgery in a shelter setting. Jonathan later became the Director of Veterinary Education, overseeing the veterinary externship, internship, and residency programs.

Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and an Associate of Science degree in Spanish from Loyola University Chicago, attending from 2003 to 2007. In addition to their formal education, Jonathan has obtained several certifications such as Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (DACVPM) from the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine in July 2023, Fear Free certifications from Fear Free, LLC in September 2020, and various other certifications related to disaster response, veterinary medicine, and research ethics. Jonathan also holds veterinary medical licenses from the State of California and the State of Illinois, as well as USDA National Veterinary Accreditation.
