Kees van der Staaij is a seasoned legal and political professional, currently serving as a Staatsraad at the Raad van State since June 2024, where responsibilities include providing advice on legislative proposals and general administrative measures. Additionally, as a Gezant Maritieme Maakindustrie for the Rijksoverheid since February 2024, Kees plays a pivotal role in addressing issues and enhancing commitment to the Sector Agenda for the maritime manufacturing industry. Kees has a long history in public service, including a tenure as a member of the Tweede Kamer der Staten-Generaal, where leadership was demonstrated as the fractievoorzitter for the SGP from 2010 to 2023, focusing on justice, healthcare, and foreign affairs. Earlier career experiences include roles as a stafjurist at the Raad van State and military service as a tank commander in the Dutch Ministry of Defence.
