Casey Chung, PhD has a diverse and extensive work experience in various leadership roles within the logistics and supply chain industry.
Starting in 1989, Casey served as an Operations Officer in the US Army's 10th Mountain Division. In 1992, they transitioned to the private sector and joined Walmart as an Operations Manager at a distribution center, where they played a crucial role in improving operating efficiency and implementing effective staffing models.
From 1996 to 2000, Casey worked at Technicolor as a Plant Manager, overseeing all aspects of operations, including production, inventory control, quality control, and shipping. Casey also managed a team of 16 managers and supervisors and had responsibility for budget and P&L.
In 2000, Casey joined CellStar as the Director of VAS, Inventory Control, and Quality, where they successfully turned around and modernized the distribution and supply chain operation. Casey implemented lean concepts and created a budget performance model for the operation.
Casey's next role was at Blockbuster, where they served as the Senior Director of Supply Chain from 1999 to 2010. Casey was responsible for planning production and logistics activities for retail and online fulfillment. Casey also analyzed new business opportunities and focused on operational improvements.
In 2011, Casey joined Gap Inc./Gap Inc. Direct as the Director of Distribution Operations, where they led the build-out and start-up of a fully automated online retail fulfillment center. Casey oversaw hiring, training, and P&L responsibility for the center.
From 2014 to 2017, Casey worked at Caleres, Inc. as the Vice President of Logistics. Casey was recruited to modernize and optimize the supply chain network for famous footwear brands. Casey had responsibilities in transportation, retail store distribution, direct-to-consumer fulfillment, wholesale, and Omni-channel strategies.
Casey then joined Conn's HomePlus in 2017 as the Vice President of Distribution, where they turned around and modernized the logistics model. Casey had P&L responsibility for the operation across 32 sites.
After that, Casey worked at Trico Products as the Director of Distribution and Transportation, responsible for turning around and optimizing distribution operations. Casey oversaw B2B distribution operations and light manufacturing, achieving significant year-on-year growth.
Currently, Casey is serving as the Senior Vice President of Technical Operations at S&H Systems, where they oversee technical operations. Prior to that, they held the position of Vice President of Strategic Planning and Logistics.
Through their varied work experience, Casey has demonstrated expertise in turnaround strategies, optimization, modernization, and operational leadership in the logistics and supply chain industry.
Casey Chung, PhD, has a comprehensive education history that includes degrees in various fields. In 1988, they graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. Following this, they pursued further studies at The University of Texas at Dallas, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Naveen Jindal School of Management in 2006. In 2008, Casey Chung completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Supply Chain Management from the same institution. Their educational journey culminated with a PhD in Management Science, which they achieved in 2010 from The University of Texas at Dallas.
