Matthijs Janssens

Matthijs Janssens is an experienced engineer specializing in electrical engineering and renewable energy, currently serving as an Elektrisch projectingenieur in R&D and Testing for Wind & Hydrogen Energy at Sirris since July 2022. Previously, Matthijs worked as a project engineer for Secondary Systems at Elia, focusing on the development and deployment of low-voltage infrastructure for security, automation, and control operations in Belgium's national high-voltage network. With a background as a Design Engineer at TRACTEBEL, Matthijs was involved in the installation of 26kV cable connections and the design of medium-voltage cells for wind turbines. An earlier internship with Jan De Nul Group contributed to experience in low voltage equipment for Taiwan's first offshore wind farm. Academic credentials include a Master’s degree in Energy and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical-Electrical Engineering from KU Leuven.
