Morgan Shelton has had extensive work experience in the legal field, primarily focusing on technology and finance industries. From 1999 to 2000, they worked as an Associate in the Internet Technology and E-Commerce Practice Group at King & Spalding LLP. During this time, they drafted and negotiated software license agreements and performed due diligence for stock and asset purchase agreements.

In 2000, Shelton joined Foley & Lardner LLP as an Associate in the Transactional and Securities Practice Group, where they assisted companies with business transactions, drafted complex software and intellectual property licenses, and advised on domestic mergers and acquisitions.

In 2004, Shelton moved to Capital One Financial Corporation, first serving as Director, Assistant General Counsel, where they managed and negotiated various procurement, corporate development, and business development transactions. Morgan also acted as principal counsel for MasterCard and Visa related transactions. From 2006 to 2008, they served as Director, Functional General Counsel for Capital One's auto finance division, providing legal support, compliance oversight, and advising on customer operations and servicing activities.

Shelton then returned to a role as Director, Assistant General Counsel at Capital One, where they led procurement transactions, drafted and negotiated agreements, and conducted training sessions on complex agreements.

Since 2011, Shelton has been working at Software AG, initially as Assistant General Counsel, leading a team of attorneys and a paralegal, with responsibilities that include supporting software sales and consulting services, advising on transactional matters, providing legal support to the Human Resources Department, and handling labor-related litigation. In July 2022, they were promoted to Vice President, Legal-Americas.

Morgan Shelton completed their high school education at Altavista High School from 1986 to 1990. Following that, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Radford University, during the period of 1990 to 1995. Lastly, Morgan Shelton attended Mercer University - Walter F. George School of Law from 1996 to 1999, where they obtained a J.D. (Juris Doctor) degree, specializing in the field of Law.
