Lodewijk Bergmans

Lodewijk Bergmans has a diverse work experience. Lodewijk currently works at Software Improvement Group (SIG) as a Senior Researcher, where they provide management with fact-based insight into their IT situation and offers recommendations for improvement. Lodewijk joined SIG in 2012 as a Senior Consultant.

Prior to their role at SIG, Lodewijk worked at the University of Twente as an Assistant Professor from 2001 to 2013. Their research focused on software composition and involved collaboration with industry partners.

Lodewijk also worked as an Independent Consultant at STEX from 1994 to 2012. Their main areas of expertise were software engineering techniques and the design and realization of modular systems using objects, aspects, and composition.

In addition, Lodewijk was a Co-Founder of BloomWise in 2008, a spin-off company aimed at improving software development. Before that, they were involved in interim management at a holding company, where they gained experience in managing a company and dealing with financial challenges.

Earlier in their career, Lodewijk worked at Ericsson Mobile Communications as a member of the software architecture group. Lodewijk was also an independent consultant, mentor, and trainer in software engineering, specializing in object-orientation and software architecture.

Lodewijk has a strong academic background, having worked as a Postdoc Researcher and a PhD Assistant at the University of Twente from 1990 to 1997. Lodewijk holds a long-term research interest in software composition and has collaborated with various industry partners throughout their career.

Lodewijk Bergmans' education history begins with their completion of the Atheneum degree at Scholen gemeenschap holten from 1979 to 1985. Lodewijk then pursued higher education at the University of Twente where they obtained a degree in Computer Science, known as "Ir." from 1985 to 1990. During this time, they also earned a Master's degree in Computer Science, or M.Sc., with a field of study in Informatica, INF. In 2010, they participated in the Business Incubation programme at Venture Lab Twente for one year.
