Sergio Duron

Dr. Duron leads preclinical development for Sova. Prior to Sova, Dr. Duron served as Director of Chemistry at Zacharon Pharmaceuticals (acquired by BioMarin) and Vice President of Chemistry at Afraxis (acquired by Genentech), both Avalon Ventures portfolio companies. Prior to Afraxis, Dr. Duron was responsible for identifying two IND candidates at Kalypsys, one approved to enter Phase II. Dr. Duron is experienced in drug discovery and preclinical development in areas of pain, inflammation, metabolic diseases and oncology.

Dr. Duron served as a post-doctoral fellow at The Scripps Research Institute after receiving his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
