Cory Roop

Cory Roop has extensive work experience in various technical roles in the IT and security fields. Cory most recently worked for Spring Health as a Senior Security Engineer starting in September 2022. Prior to that, they were a Staff SecOps Engineer at Matterport from September 2021 to July 2022, where they were responsible for monitoring AWS infrastructure security and implementing best practices and industry-standard tools. From 2019 to 2021, Cory worked at Jellyvision as a Senior Systems Engineer, handling systems deployment, monitoring, administration, and maintenance, as well as security monitoring and response. Cory also worked at Single Path as a Senior Technical Support Engineer from 2015 to 2019. Earlier in their career, Cory held positions at KELLY SCOTT MADISON as an Assistant Network Administrator and Help Desk/Network Technician from 2012 to 2015. Cory started their career at the Center of Excellence in 2009 as an Implementation Support Specialist, where they worked on the implementation of a new restaurant system for McDonald's and provided technical support to McDonald's distribution centers. Overall, Cory has a strong background in security engineering, systems administration, technical support, and implementation support.

Cory Roop attended North Central College from 2003 to 2007, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Broadcast Communications. Additionally, Cory Roop has acquired multiple certifications from different institutions. In 2016, they obtained the CMNA certification from Cisco Meraki, followed by the CMNO certification in 2018. In 2019, they obtained the CompTIA A+ certification. In 2020, they earned several certifications, including CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+), CompTIA Security+, ITIL Foundation Level from AXELOS Global Best Practice, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, and Sumo Logic Certified Cloud Monitoring & Analytics. In 2021, they obtained the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification, the HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate certification, and the Sumo Logic Certified Administration and Fundamentals certifications.
