Russell Johnson

Russell Johnson is an accomplished editorial professional with extensive experience in scientific publishing. Currently serving as Chief Editor for Nature Chemical Biology at Springer Nature Group since January 2023, Russell previously held various editorial positions at Nature Research (Publishing) from August 2012, including Senior Editor and Associate Editor for Nature Chemistry. Prior to this, Russell worked at the Royal Society of Chemistry between February 2006 and August 2012, where responsibilities included Development Editor for Materials and Assistant Editor for Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, among other roles. Russell holds a PhD in Structural Biology and Protein Chemistry from the University of Cambridge (2002-2006) and an MChem in Chemistry from the University of Exeter (1998-2002).
