Gianluca Pastorelli is a seasoned heritage scientist and conservation scientist, currently serving as a Senior Researcher and Project Researcher at SMK – Statens Museum for Kunst since August 2018. With significant experience in conservation-driven research, Gianluca specializes in artists' materials and techniques along with the deterioration of materials. Prior roles include Postdoctoral Researcher at Northwestern University's Center for Scientific Studies in the Arts, Research Consultant for Corehmat Research Consulting, and Research Assistant at UCL's Institute for Sustainable Heritage. Gianluca has contributed to various significant projects, including collaborative work with institutions like the National Research Council in Italy and the Royal Danish Academy in Denmark. Educational credentials include a PhD in Conservation Science from Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, a postgraduate degree in Geoarchaeology and Archaeometry, and a Master's degree in Natural Sciences focused on nature conservation.
