Hernando Carter

Hernando Carter is an experienced medical professional currently serving as Vice Chairman and Board Member at the Alabama State Board of Medical Examiners since April 2018. In July 2023, Hernando assumed the role of Market Medical Director at ArchWell Health, focusing on primary care services and community engagement. Hernando also provides medical consultation to the Vice President of Student Health at Talladega College and serves as Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Prescription for Better Living since January 2020. Additionally, Hernando is an Attending Physician at Ball Healthcare and operates AH Carter MD, LLC, offering Internal Medicine services. Hernando established Living and Learning Health Outreach Ministries to promote health and healing, and previously held the position of Lead Physician of Internal Medicine 2 at Whitaker Clinic of UAB Hospital until July 2023. Hernando holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from UAB Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Morehouse College.
