Dan Gentile

Dan Gentile is a seasoned writer and editor currently serving as the Senior Culture Editor at SFGATE since July 2019, overseeing arts and entertainment stories while contributing features recognized with SF Press Club awards. With extensive freelance experience since 2006, Gentile has worked with notable publications such as VICE, Food Network, and Rolling Stone, covering diverse topics from culinary lists to historical analyses. Gentile has also held roles at Thrillist, where efforts included writing and editing a vast number of articles on food and drink, and at the Texas Legislative Council as a proofreader. Additionally, Gentile is an accomplished DJ, performing regularly in Austin and showcasing a collection of over 1000 vinyl records. Gentile earned a B.A. in English from The University of Texas at Austin between 2003 and 2006.
