Carmen Honker has a diverse range of work experience. Carmen recently worked at Washingtonian Magazine as a Digital Media Producer, where they managed social media accounts and launched a successful social video strategy. Prior to that, they were a Social & Web Fellow at the same company.
Carmen also worked as an Associate Marketing Manager at MyStudio, where they designed graphics, produced promotional videos, and managed ad campaigns.
During their time at The Flat Hat, Carmen held several roles including News Editor, Chief Features Writer, Variety Editor, and Associate News Editor | News and Variety Intern. In these roles, they wrote and edited articles, designed pages and graphics, and produced web content using WordPress.
Carmen also gained experience as an Editorial Intern and Marketing & Editorial Assistant at William & Mary – Raymond A. Mason School of Business, where they wrote news articles, designed promotional materials, and contributed to social media content.
Additionally, Carmen was selected as a Pulitzer Center Student Reporting Fellow, where they produced an investigative journalistic piece on the effects of budget cuts on the University of Puerto Rico.
Furthermore, they worked as a Studio Assistant at The Washington Ballet, managing front desk operations and assisting with auditions and programs. And finally, Carmen was an Editorial Intern at Washington Life Magazine, where they researched, wrote, and copy edited stories, pitched story ideas, and managed social media posts.
Carmen Honker began their education in 2017 at William & Mary, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History and Hispanic Studies. Carmen attended this institution until 2021. In 2019, Carmen also had the opportunity to study at Universidad Pablo de Olavide, focusing on Spanish Language and History for a brief period. However, no specific degree was obtained during their time at this university.
