1. Founder & CEO at They Got Acquired: Launched in February 2021, They Got Acquired is a media company focusing on the acquisitions of online businesses between $100K-$50M. Alexis covers these deals that are too small for mainstream tech publications but can be life-changing for founders.

2. Media Entrepreneurship Fellow at Medill & The Garage, Northwestern University: In 2022, Alexis was awarded the Media Entrepreneurship Fellowship by Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism and The Garage. As the recipient, Alexis mentors entrepreneurship students and leverages the NU community to grow their niche media brand, They Got Acquired.

3. Founder of Retreat & Create: Alexis founded Retreat & Create in 2020, a project that brings smart women to the mountains of West Virginia. The goal is to inspire and help them make progress on their projects. The retreat can accommodate individual attendees or small groups up to 10 people.

4. Founder of The Write Life: In 2013, Alexis founded The Write Life, a website for writers. Over eight years, they grew it as a side project until they sold the business in March 2021. The Write Life was bootstrapped and provided resources and information for writers.

Executive Vice President of Content at The Penny Hoarder (Taylor Media): From February 2018 to April 2019, Alexis led the content division at The Penny Hoarder, a startup that later sold to Sykes Enterprises. Alexis oversaw teams of writers, editors, photographers, videographers, and designers. Alexis played a key role in scaling the company from 3 to 100+ employees, building the startup infrastructure.

6. Executive Editor at The Penny Hoarder: Alexis joined The Penny Hoarder in July 2015 as the third employee when their blog-management agency, Socialexis, was acquired by the company. Alexis contributed to scaling the content and marketing operations, turning The Penny Hoarder into the fastest-growing private media company. They offered advice on earning and saving money to help people improve their financial situations.

7. Founder and Innovator-In-Chief at Socialexis: From June 2010 to July 2015, Alexis founded and grew Socialexis, a blog-management company. The company managed all aspects of blogs for clients, including content strategy, writer recruitment, editing, SEO optimization, and publishing.

8. Careers Editor at U.S. News & World Report: From October 2010 to August 2011, Alexis worked as the Careers Editor at U.S. News & World Report. Alexis reported on job-search strategies, managed a team of freelance bloggers, and oversaw the annual Best Careers project. Alexis also grew the Careers social media following.

9. Freelance Journalist & Blogger (Self-employed): From June 2008 to May 2010, Alexis worked as a freelance journalist and blogger, traveling through French-speaking Africa. Alexis wrote for various publications and developed a travel blog that gained 50,000 hits in six months. Alexis later wrote a travel memoir about their experiences.

10. Reporter at the Houston Chronicle: From May 2005 to May 2008, Alexis specialized in health and political reporting as a reporter for the Houston Chronicle. Alexis spent six months covering the Supreme Court and the nation's capital out of the Chronicle's Washington, DC bureau.

Alexis Grant obtained a Bachelor's degree from Colby College in Liberal Arts, completing their studies from 1999 to 2003. In 2004, they pursued a Master's degree in Journalism at Northwestern University, which they successfully completed in 2005.
