Rick Dauk has extensive work experience in the technology industry. Rick started their career as a Programmer Analyst at West Publishing Company in 1992, where they developed and ran automated regression test cases and scripts for the Westlaw mainframe. Rick then became a Senior Software Engineer and Project Lead, designing and developing a legal citation verification tool called WestCheck 2.5.
In 1994, Dauk became a Lead Software Engineer at West Publishing Company, where they led the development of Premise Publisher 3.0, an electronic information publishing application. Rick also interviewed technical applicants for job opportunities in the technology department.
Dauk joined West Group in 1997 as a Systems Architect, where they designed a collection of integrated productivity tools for West Group Legal Tools. Rick also participated in an advanced study of Integrated Development Environments for Thomson Corporation and sat on a panel at the Thomson Technical Conference in New York.
From 2000 to 2002, Dauk served as a Lead Software Engineer at West Group, leading the architecture and development of wireless technology for Westlaw.com and other West Group products. Rick also managed a team of five employees for the design and development of Westlaw Wireless and WestFindandPrint Wireless.
In 2002, Dauk joined West A Thomson Business as a Lead Software Engineer, where they architected and led the migration of Westlaw.com and designed applications from ASP/VBScript to ASP.
Dauk then joined Thomson Reuters in 2004 as an Architect in the Legal Division. Rick played a key role in several projects, including the architecture and design of the WestlawNext platform and the integration of Global Securities Information into Thomson West. Dauk also performed technology due diligence for Thomson Reuters in purchasing companies and intellectual property.
In 2011, Dauk became the Principal Architect in the Governance, Risk and Compliance division at Thomson Reuters, where they continued to provide architecture and design solutions. In 2013, they became the Principal Architect in the Legal Division, partnering with the business to architect and design software solutions for the transactional legal industry.
In 2018, Dauk took on a new role as the Principal Architect in Data Engineering, leading a team of architects to define architectural principles and provide governance for all content processing assets and content at Thomson Reuters. Rick also partnered with Data Scientists to develop AI/ML software development life cycle and platform to unlock the power of Thomson Reuters content for customers.
Throughout their career, Dauk has worked with a wide range of technologies, including XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, ASP, RIA, Silverlight, .NET Framework, and more. Rick has consistently demonstrated leadership and expertise in designing and architecting software solutions.
Rick Dauk obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Saint John's University, where they studied from 1988 to 1992. Additionally, they received a certification in Introduction to Artificial Intelligence from LinkedIn in October 2023.
