Amy Sommer

Amy Sommer has a diverse work experience that spans various sectors, including non-profit organizations, language services, and humanitarian agencies. Their current role is Senior Director of Strategy & Impact at Tides, which they started in 2022. Amy previously worked at UNICEF USA, where they held multiple positions, including Managing Director of Strategy & Engagement and Senior Director of Strategy & Engagement. At UNICEF USA, they were responsible for overseeing strategy, operations, and community engagement in the US to advocate, educate, and fundraise for the rights of children. Amy attended The University of Texas at Austin, where they studied French. Amy then went on to attend The New School from 2008 to 2010, where they earned a Master of Arts in International Affairs. In 2004, Amy briefly studied at the University of Buenos Aires, focusing on Social Work. Prior to that, from 2000 to 2004, Amy attended The University of Texas at Austin again, where they pursued a degree in Government with a minor in French and Spanish. Their studies during this time included political theory, French language and literature, and Spanish language and literature. Amy also had a short study abroad experience in 2001 at Université Jean Moulin (Lyon III), where they studied French history and literature. Lastly, Amy returned to The University of Texas at Austin to focus on Government but did not specify the timeline for this degree.
