John Lam

Process Analytical Research Scientist at Trajan Scientific and Medical

John Lam has a diverse range of work experience in the field of analytical research and development. John started their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Sun Yat-sen University, where they specialized in phyto-chemical extraction and standard preparation for quality control of herbal medicines. John then pursued their graduate studies at the University of Macau as a Graduate Student Researcher, focusing on the quality control of herbal medicines through various chromatography and spectroscopy techniques.

After completing their master's degree, John joined the ASTech ARC Training Centre for Portable Analytical Separation Technologies as a Researcher Phd Candidate. In this role, they specialized in the development of portable liquid chromatography (LC) for the pharmaceutical industry, including LED-based UV detector development and the application of portable LC as an in-situ process analytical technology. John also gained expertise in 3D printing and CAD modeling.

Following their Ph.D., John worked as a Research Assistant at ACROSS and Trajan Scientific and Medical, where they contributed to multiple research projects, including the development of a sample processing prototype for portable LC as process analytical technology. John also co-authored papers on topics such as ion chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (IC-QQQ-MS) for ozonated aquaculture applications and HPTLC-free radical bioautography for metabolomic study of ylang-ylang essential oils.

Currently, John serves as a Process Analytical Research Scientist at Trajan Scientific and Medical. In this role, they lead and manages the R&D team in development and validation activities related to process analytical technology and separation science. John is also responsible for managing new technology development and serving as a consultant and subject matter expert for chromatography-related product support.

Overall, John Lam has demonstrated a strong background in analytical research and development, with expertise in portable LC, chromatography techniques, and product support in the pharmaceutical industry.

John Lam completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Sun Yat-sen University during the years 2010 to 2014. John went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicines, with a focus on Quality Control, at the University of Macau from 2014 to 2016. Following this, from 2016 to 2020, John attended the University of Tasmania, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Analytical Chemistry.
