Jean Mistrot has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades in various roles within the technology and gaming industries. In 2000, Jean began their career as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at Texas A&M University, where they later worked as an HCI Researcher in the Interface Ecology Lab. Jean also served as an Adjunct Professor at New York University, where they developed and implemented graduate curriculum in the fields of Particles and Dynamics and Scripting for VFX.

In 2003, Jean transitioned to the film industry and worked as a Technical Director at Bluesky Studios. They then joined Electronic Arts (EA) in 2005, where they held multiple roles including CG Supervisor Central Services - Surfacing and EA University Worldwide Graphics Trainer. In these positions, Jean was responsible for developing and delivering curriculum in areas such as shading, lighting, and coding.

Jean continued to make significant contributions to the gaming industry, serving as a Technical Art Director at Propaganda Games and a Senior Pipeline Developer at Gener8 Digital Media Corp. They then joined A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. Games as the VP of Product Development. Additionally, Jean worked as an Independent Contractor and Consultant at Concentric Enterprises, assisting clients in managing and developing people, data, and workflows in the VFX, Animation, and Game Industries.

In 2015, Jean co-founded UME Academy, where they held the role of Co-Founder and CTO. Jean's responsibilities included using video games to teach critical thinking and collaborative creation to children aged 6-12. They also focused on instilling computational thinking skills in students, enabling them to identify, analyze, and implement solutions using digital tools.

Most recently, Jean became the Chief Technology Officer at UME Studio in 2021. Throughout their career, Jean has demonstrated expertise in technology development, curriculum design, and leadership roles, making valuable contributions to the fields of gaming, education, and visual effects.

Jean Mistrot obtained a High School Diploma from Woodberry Forest School. Following that, they attended The University of the Arts from 1987 to 1991, where they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a specialization in Sculpture. Later, from 1989 to 1992, Jean enrolled at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and received a four-year Certificate focusing on Sculpture and Printmaking. Lastly, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Visualization at Texas A&M University from 2000 to 2003.
