Jon Mercer

Jon Mercer has an extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Currently, they serve as the Chief Operations Officer at UNC Health Blue Ridge since October 2021. Prior to this, they held the same role at Carolinas HealthCARE System Blue Ridge from September 2016 to November 2021. Jon also worked there as the Vice President of Operations from February 2013 to September 2016. Before that, Jon worked at Blue Ridge HealthCare, where they held various positions including Vice President, Professional and Support Services from July 2011 to February 2013, VP Physician Practice Management from January 2008 to July 2011, Director, Practice Management from November 2004 to January 2008, Administrative Fellow from October 2003 to November 2004, and Cardiopulmonary Rehab Coordinator from August 1998 to October 2003.

Jon Mercer has a strong educational background in the fields of business, healthcare administration, exercise physiology, biology, and chemistry. Jon obtained a Master of Business Administration and Master of HealthCare Administration (MBA/MHA) degree from Pfeiffer University between 2001 and 2003. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Exercise Physiology at Appalachian State University from 1996 to 1998. Jon also holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Western Carolina University, obtained from 1992 to 1996. Additionally, Jon obtained a certification in FACHE (Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives) from the American College of Healthcare Executives in December 2005.
