Stefan Tholen is a scientist at Universitätsklinikum Freiburg, specializing in the Proteomics Core Facility since April 2020. Previously, Stefan served as a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University from October 2015 to April 2020, focusing on the effects of circadian glucocorticoids on metabolic disease using advanced techniques such as CRISPR and targeted proteomics. Prior to that, Stefan was a postdoctoral fellow at Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg im Breisgau, where research concentrated on the role of proteases in tumorigenesis and epidermal barrier formation, building on experience gained during a Ph.D. at the Institute of Molecular Medicine and Cell Research. Stefan began professional training as a Biological Technical Assistant with a focus on phytopathology and crop protection at the Chamber of Agriculture Lower Saxony from July 2000 to July 2003. Educational qualifications include a Diploma in Biology from The University of Göttingen and prior studies at the University of Glasgow and University of Bremen.
