Leonardo Verdugo has extensive work experience in the construction industry. Leonardo started their career as a Project Engineer at PCL Construction in 2003 and worked there until 2005. Leonardo then joined Civil Concepts, PC as a Sr. Project Engineer, specializing in investigative engineering and conducting cause and origin and forensic investigations for property loss claims. In 2007, they joined Hunter Contracting Co. as a Project Manager/Quality Control Manager, where they managed medium to large scale heavy highway and site development projects.
In 2009, Verdugo became the Director of Projects at Conarch International, overseeing the development and execution of an international construction program in Mexico. From 2010 to 2011, they worked as a Project Manager at Brown and White Inc., managing federal procured projects and ensuring on-budget and profitable project deliveries.
Verdugo's career then took him to Civil Concepts PC, where they served as a Sr. Engineer from 2011 to 2013. In this role, they led property assessments, forensic investigations, and retrofit designs for commercial buildings in New Zealand.
From 2013 to 2018, Verdugo worked at Thornton Tomasetti as a Sr. Project Director. In this role, they managed 106 property loss consultancy projects, including building assessments, consent management, structural retrofits, and damage reinstatements. Leonardo supervised forensic experts and specialized personnel and provided client-based services to owners, insurers, and investigators.
Verdugo then joined PCL Construction again, this time as a Sr. Project Engineer from 2018 to 2021. In this role, they continued to work on various construction projects.
Currently, Verdugo is employed as a Senior Project Engineer at Vogel Bros. Building Co, starting in 2023.
Leonardo Verdugo started their education at Salpointe Catholic High School, where they obtained their High School Diploma in General Studies from 1993 to 1995. Leonardo then attended Pima Community College from 1995 to 1998, where they earned an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Engineering. Leonardo later pursued their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics from the University of Arizona, studying there from 1997 to 2004.
In addition to their formal education, Leonardo has also obtained various certifications. In 2015, they received certifications in Confined Space Training and Fall Protection from Site Safe New Zealand Inc. In 2018, Leonardo obtained the OSHA 30 certification from ClickSafety. Leonardo also holds a Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
