Blake West has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. In 2011, they founded LessonUp, an in-person music lessons business, where they also created a better music notation system. From 2013 to 2014, they worked at Hack Reactor as a Hacker in Residence, focusing on curriculum development and code reviews. Blake also worked as a Contract Software Engineer for Versal, where they built a custom skinned interactive video player. At Hint Health, Blake started as a Software Engineer and played an instrumental role in designing, building, and scaling the application. Blake worked directly with the CTO and contributed to deploying core features and building payment and financial accounting code. Blake later joined Coinbase as a Senior Backend Engineer from 2018 to 2020. Blake then co-founded and contributed to Goldfinch, an organization aiming to expand access to capital through a decentralized credit protocol on Ethereum. Additionally, Blake worked as a Freelance Keyboardist and Consultant, using their musical talent and business acumen to play, record, and perform music as well as provide growth and improvement strategies for small businesses.
Blake West attended The Wharton School from 2005 to 2009, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. Blake also minored in Music during their time there. In 2013, they briefly attended Hack Reactor and focused on computer software engineering, although they did not complete a degree at that institution.
