Iva Kelava

Iva Kelava is a Senior Staff Scientist at the Wellcome Sanger Institute since October 2021, following a notable tenure as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology from November 2015 to October 2021. Prior to this, Iva held the position of FWF Lise Meitner Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Vienna and contributed to research on the genetic and regulatory components of ancestral nervous systems. Iva also completed a postdoctoral position at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, where a significant database was established leading to a mathematical model related to neocortical development. Iva's academic journey includes a PhD in Neurogenesis and Evolutionary Developmental Biology from Technische Universität Dresden and experience as an International Baccalaureate Biology Teacher at Bertolt Brecht Gymnasium, enriching education with expertise in cell biology and molecular biology.
