Petra Fay

Petra Fay is an experienced research professional currently serving as a Research Manager for Microbial Communities and Reservoirs at Wellcome Trust since November 2022. Previously, Petra worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at The Pirbright Institute from January 2018 to November 2022, focusing on the development of diagnostic assays and next-generation vaccines for Lumpy skin disease under a European Commission-funded project. A brief secondment as an Associate at Ingentium Limited allowed coordination of a market research report on sustainability in animal health. Earlier roles included Research Assistant positions at The Pirbright Institute and the Medical Research Council. Petra holds a PhD in Immunology from the University of Nottingham, an MS in Wildlife Management & Conservation from the University of Reading, and a BS in Animal Health from Sparsholt College Hampshire.
