Daniel Compton has worked in the software engineering and development industry since 2011. Daniel began their career at HOLDFAST NZ Ltd as a Systems Integration Engineer, where they developed SQL Server, Data Warehousing (SSIS, SSAS), and reporting tools (SSRS, Qlikview). Daniel also worked with Geo-analytics and pricing intelligence (Python and R). In 2013, they became a Consultant at Theta, where they focused on Microsoft Dynamics NAV development and Qlikview business intelligence reports. Daniel then moved to Televator in 2014 as a Software Consultant, where they developed Clojure and ClojureScript. In 2015, they joined Day8 Technology as a Senior Software Engineer, where they worked on developing Clojure backends for a company already heavily invested in ClojureScript. In 2016, they founded Deps. In 2019, they became a Senior Software Engineer and Team Lead at Flipboard's Thanks Network, where they identified, hired, and built a successful, remote engineering team. In 2020, they joined GitHub as a Senior Product Manager and Senior Technical Program Manager, where they worked on Issue Forms and GitHub Sponsors. In 2021, they became the Lead Software Engineer at Whimsical.

Daniel Compton has a diverse educational background. Daniel began their studies in 2004 at Morrinsville College, and from 2009 to 2011, they attended the University of Otago, earning a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Performance. Currently, they are enrolled in the Georgia Institute of Technology, pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science.
