Lonnie Webb

Fluid Structures / Primary Structures Engineer at Yellow Jacket Space Program

Lonnie Webb is a Graduate Research Assistant at the Structures and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization Research Group, specializing in the development of new methods for structural optimization using C++ and Python for rotorcraft crashworthiness. As a Fluid Structures/Primary Structures Engineer with the Yellow Jacket Space Program, Lonnie coordinates the design and fabrication of pressurized tanks for a bi-propellant rocket. Experience includes work as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Direct Digital Manufacturing Laboratory, focusing on metal powder additive manufacturing, and participation in the NASA ULI initiative at the Ben T Zinn Combustion Laboratory, investigating hybrid electric jet engine technologies. Recently, Lonnie served as a Strength and Life Assessment Propulsion Structures Analyst at NASA, leading a project on machine learning models to predict fatigue in additively manufactured components. Lonnie holds a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, expected in December 2024, and previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the same institution.
