Nitish Nag

Nitish Nag, M.D., Ph.D. has a diverse work experience background. Nitish is currently working as a Principal Research Scientist at AI Health Labs in Zepp Health, where they focus on developing innovative health computing and artificial intelligence technologies. Nitish has successfully built algorithms and products that have reached 40 million users in the international market.

In addition, Nitish has also founded the company Alpworx in 2020. Prior to this, they served as a Professional Athlete at Santa Cruz Bicycles from 2018 to 2023.

Nitish's academic background includes being a Medical Scientist in the UCI Medical Scientist Training Program from 2013 to 2023, where they obtained their MD/PhD. Nitish also worked as a Senior Scientist at Renovel Innovations from 2011 to 2020. Nitish has further conducted research and development as a Research and Development Scientist at UC Berkeley from 2008 to 2012, where they focused on various scientific areas such as biochemistry, exercise science, nutrition, cell-signaling, aging mechanisms, and lactate metabolism in endurance exercise.

In addition to their professional work, Nitish has held various roles in sports and outdoor organizations, including being a coach at Whole Athlete, a National Ambassador at NOLS, and an Outdoor Nation Board Member at the Outdoor Industry Association.

Nitish Nag, M.D., Ph.D. has a diverse education background. Nitish first obtained a B.A. / B.S. with a triple major in Biochemistry, Nutrition Metabolism, and Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. Nitish then pursued a combined M.D. and Ph.D. program in Medicine and Computer Science at UC Irvine. In addition to their medical and scientific studies, they also hold certifications in various fields including aviation with a Private Pilot License from California Airways, wilderness medicine with a Wilderness First Aid certification from NOLS, outdoor sports as a Backpacking Trip Leader from NOLS, and outdoor ethics as an Instructor Certification from NOLS. Nitish has also attained Level 3 Cycling Coach and Race Mechanic certifications from USA Cycling. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications including AIARE Avalanche Rescue, AIARE Level 1, AIARE Level 2 from AIARE- American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from UCI School of Medicine, CPR / AED / BLS Certification from UC Irvine Health, Leave No Trace Instructor from the Leave No Trace Center For Outdoor Ethics, and a Private Pilot certification from the Federal Aviation Administration - FAA.
