Ing Swenson has a diverse range of work experience in the field of social work and mental health. They started their career as a Mental Health Intern at Howard Brown Health Center in 2001. They then worked as a Crisis Mental Health Clinician at Sound Mental Health from 2002 to 2005. From 2003 to 2011, they worked at Seattle Counseling Service as a Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Counselor, providing assessments, counseling, advocacy, and supervision. From 2011 to 2012, they worked as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist at Telecare Corporation, providing community treatment and case management. In 2012, they established their own practice, Swenson Social Work and Consultation, where they provided therapy to the transgender community. From 2012 to 2014, they also worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Vista Community Clinic, providing assessments and counseling in a healthcare setting. In 2015, they worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Chicago Mindful Psychotherapy before taking on the role of Director of Behavioral Health at Center on Halsted, where they are currently employed.

Ing Swenson, LCSW, CRADC received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Art Therapy from Edgewood College, where they studied from 1993 to 1997. They then pursued a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois Chicago, completing their studies between 2000 and 2002. In addition, Ing Swenson obtained a certification as a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor from the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium in May 2012.
