Matthias Liermann

Matthias Liermann has had an extensive work experience spanning various roles and companies. Matthias is currently the Global Head of Product Management at DWS Group since March 2021. Prior to this, they served as the COO EMEA and Head of Global Product Platform at DWS Group from March 2019 to March 2021. Before joining DWS Group, Matthias worked at Deutsche Bank Asset & Wealth Management as the Head of Global Product Platform from March 2013 to March 2019. Matthias also held the position of MD, Head of Product, DWS Europe and Asia at DWS Investments from July 2011 to March 2013. Prior to that, they worked at Deutsche Bank as the MD, db-x: Global Head Legal Fund Platform from November 2009 to August 2011. Matthias began their career at DWS Investments as an MD from January 2006 to November 2009. Matthias also gained experience at ABN AMRO as the Head of Legal PIP from July 2003 to December 2005 and at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer as an Associate from April 2000 to June 2003.

Matthias Liermann completed an apprenticeship in banking at Deutsche Bank AG Remscheid from 1989 to 1991. Following this, they pursued their higher education and earned their first state law examination degree in Law from the University of Münster between 1991 and 1996. Matthias then went on to complete their second state law examination, equivalent to the bar exam, in Düsseldorf in 2000. Finally, Matthias Liermann conducted their doctoral thesis (Ph.D.) at the University of Münster starting in 2001.
