Senior Design Principal at Education Elements

Marisa Garverick Herrera has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Marisa is currently working at Education Elements as a Senior Design Principal and has been in this role since January 2023. Prior to that, they were a Principal Design at the same company.

Marisa also co-founded Hasta La Equity LLC in 2020, where they served as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Consultant. Marisa provided professional consultation, coaching, and professional learning services to individuals and organizations, with a focus on creating more equitable environments for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.

From 2018 to 2021, Marisa worked at Denver Public Schools, first as a Project Manager of Culturally Responsive Education and then as a Specialist of Culturally Responsive Education. Marisa played a key role in implementing culturally responsive practices within the school district.

In 2018, Marisa briefly worked at The Paladin Political Group as a Campaign Consultant. Prior to that, they gained international experience as an International Volunteer at Workaway from 2016 to 2017.

Marisa's teaching experience includes working as a Kindergarten Teacher at Ricardo Flores Magon Academy from 2013 to 2016. Marisa was also a Teach For America Corps Member in Colorado from 2013 to 2015.

Additionally, Marisa has had various roles in the political and public service sector. Marisa was a Summer Fellow and Press Assistant & Social Media Director at the Colorado Democratic Party through a leadership program called Leadership for Educational Equity in 2014. Prior to this, they interned for Representative Dan Ramos at The Ohio House of Representatives in early 2013.

Marisa Garverick Herrera completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science from The Ohio State University, where they attended from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, they attended Ohio Dominican University from 2009 to 2011, but the specific degree and field of study obtained during that time are unknown. In addition to their academic qualifications, Marisa has obtained two additional certifications: the IDI Qualified Administrator certification from INTERCULTURAL DEVELOPMENT INVENTORY, LLC in 2019 and the Certified Change Practitioner certification from Prosci in July 2018.
