Derek Mitchell is a seasoned education leader with extensive experience in transforming public schools and enhancing educational equity. As the Chief Executive Officer at Partners in School Innovation since June 2009, Derek Mitchell has focused on improving teaching and learning in under-performing public schools. Prior to this role, Derek Mitchell served as the Executive Director of the Opportunity Zone at Prince George's County Public Schools, where responsibilities included managing school choice processes and building leadership capacity among principals. Earlier positions include Program Manager at The Stupski Foundation, Director of Research & Equity at Oakland Unified School District, and QSP Project Director at CRESST, showcasing a strong commitment to educational reform and research. Derek Mitchell holds a PhD in Education from UCLA and a BA in English from Pomona College.
