Roy Papatheodorou leads the global Legal, Ethics and Business Integrity (LEBI) team. The Global LEBI team, composed of lawyers, patent attorneys and compliance officers, covers Sanofi operations across the world. Its team members play an essential role in protecting the interests of the company’s business, patients and customers, shareholders, and employees while achieving Sanofi’s Play to Win roadmap and contributing to its long-term ambition to transform the practice of medicine.
Before joining Sanofi, Roy was the General Counsel of Novartis Pharmaceuticals since 2017. Prior to that, he headed Legal Transactions at Novartis, covering mergers & acquisitions, business development & licensing, antitrust, corporate & finance and venture funds.
From 2011 to 2013, he was the Group General Counsel and Secretary to Board of Directors at Actavis, a global generic pharmaceutical leader. Prior to this, Roy spent several years at Linklaters London, Moscow and Sao Paulo, advising mainly on corporate, international mergers & acquisitions, private equity, and restructurings.
Roy holds a Legal Practice Course from BPP School of Law in London and a LLB in Law from King’s College London. He is a qualified solicitor in England & Wales.
Roy is married with two children. As an avid traveler and passionate about different cultures, he has also lived and worked in Cyprus, Belgium, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Russia, and Switzerland.
