Wayne Michelsen

Wayne Michelsen has over 14 years of experience in various engineering roles. Wayne'smost recent position is as a Principal Engineer at Shield AI starting in 2022. Before that, they worked as a Staff Engineer at Samsara from December 2021 to July 2022, where they focused on improving the video pipeline. From June 2021 to November 2021, Wayne was a Principal Engineer / Director at Cana Technology, Inc., where they managed and built the embedded firmware system team and worked on the Cana-1 device. Prior to that, they worked at Vantage Robotics as a Principal Engineer, responsible for the video pipeline. Wayne also has experience at companies like Entefy, Flyye Robotics, ZanCompute, NGCodec Inc., ARRIS, and Motorola, where they gained expertise in AI, deep learning, robotics, video codecs, and IoT devices.

Wayne Michelsen obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Fluid and Thermal Science Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 1985. Wayne then pursued a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame from 1985 to 1987. Following this, they attended the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where they completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Electro-Optics Engineering from 1988 to 1995.
