Senior Associate - Audit

As a senior audit associate at Axley & Rode, you will help our clients adhere to financial reporting standards, make recommendations to improve the effectiveness of internal controls and efficiency of operations, and develop deep relationships with clients and your team along the way.

The Opportunity:

The Audit Senior Associate will be responsible for applying their technical skills, helping to coach and develop more junior members of the team, and communicating clearly and promptly with clients to complete financial and compliance audits.  Base compensation for this role starts at $70,000 annually and increases commensurate with education, years of experience, and credentials attained. Well-performing senior associates who have earned a CPA license can expect to be groomed for future leadership roles.

The Day-to-Day:

  • Assist clients in drafting financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and disclosures.
  • Handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion, honesty, and integrity.
  • Leverage technology to analyze data, automate selected audit procedures, and support the firm and our clients.
  • Work face-to-face with clients to conduct interviews and process walkthroughs supporting the audit
  • Coach, mentor and help develop more junior members of the team

The Recipe for Success in this Role:

  • Qualification and intent to sit for the CPA exam
  • Excellent critical thinking and analysis skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with computers, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Basic knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and auditing standards
  • Advanced organizational skills
  • Experience balancing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Comfort delegating tasks to colleagues while retaining accountability for status updates and timely project completion

Strong preference will be shown for:

  • Progress toward CPA exam completion or attainment of credential
  • Experience in the areas of financial reporting, internal controls, or auditing in one of the following industries: financial institutions, utility cooperatives, construction contractors
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through volunteer activities or service within a professional organization or trade association
