Francisco Leon

Chief Scientific Officer & Co-Founder at Provention Bio

Francisco Leon is the current Chief Scientific Officer & Co-Founder at Provention Bio. Francisco has also been a part of other renowned organizations like Jefferson Medical College, Dept. of Gastroenterology, Janssen/J&J, Glutenostics and Celimmune. Francisco has played a pivotal role in the development and success of these organizations and has been responsible for the translational strategies and early clinical development of biologic and small molecule therapies for immune-mediated diseases (Phase 0 to proof-of-concept). Francisco has also led a Phase 3 trial with strong mechanistic components and has managed a team of 20 people including pre-clinical and clinical assets. Francisco's work has been crucial in Orphan Designation for AMG 714 in refractory celiac disease being granted by FDA. Francisco is currently a consultant to Amgen providing advice/services on AMG 714 and celiac matters.

Francisco Leon completed their PhD in Mucosal Immunology at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Francisco then went on to complete a Specialist program in Clinical Immunology at Hospital Ramon y Cajal, Madrid. Lastly, they completed an MD in Allergy and Immunology at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

They work with Jason Hoitt - Chief Commercial Officer, Christina Yi - Chief Operations Officer, and Eleanor L. Ramos - Chief Medical Officer. Francisco Leon reports to Ashleigh Palmer, CEO & Co-Founder.
